本日からは「that 節/wh-節・句」を取る用法です。
・He explained to me that they didn't really speak that much to each other. Just an hello now and then. But somehow from just an hello my Dad understood a lot about her. And he told me everything. (彼の話によれば、二人は面と向かって話す機会はそれほどなかったようです。たまに挨拶する程度。しかし、その挨拶だけで、父はなぜか彼女の素性を十分理解したようで、私にすべてを話してくれました。)
【研究】explain (to A) that SV...は「(A<人>に)〜を説明する」を意味します。
