本日は drop goal の用法を扱います。
・A drop goal is when a player drops the ball onto the ground while in play and then in a simultaneous motion kicks the ball forward with the aim of steering it through the goal posts and over the cross bar. (ドロップゴールとは、プレーヤーがプレー中に地面にボールを落とし、同時にゴールポストを通ってクロスバーを越えてボールを操る目的で前方に蹴ることである。)
【研究】1. drop goal はアメフトやラグビーの用語で「ドロップ ゴール」と訳します。2. Wikipedia の定義を挙げます。「ドロップゴール (英: drop goal) またはフィールドゴール (field goal) [1]は、ラグビーユニオンおよびラグビーリーグにおいて得点する方法の一つである。まれに、アメリカンフットボールおよびカナディアンフットボールにおいても見られる。」
