・Mrs Sidgwick directs her eyes as, from the sofa, she remarks that Miss Brontë was expected a good hour ago, and laments this necessity of finding a temporary governess, and hopes that Miss Brontë is a good hand at plain sewing. (シドウィック夫人はソファーから、ミス・ブロンテが1時間前に来る予定だったことを告げ、臨時の家庭教師を見つけなければならないことを嘆き、ミス・ブロンテが裁縫が得意であることを願っています。)
【研究】be a good[great] hand at A/doign で「A[〜すること] が得意である」を意味します。
