本日も前回の用法の続きです。
・The idea of an Interim National Government was a contraption introduced into Nigeria’s grammar of politics and governance by the military administration led by General Ibrahim Babangida when in August 1993, having messed up the general elections of June 1993, Babangida decided to “step aside” (in retrospect, whatever that meant) and chose to hand over power to an interim government headed by Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan. (暫定国民政府という考え方は、イブラヒム・ババンギダ将軍率いる軍事政権がナイジェリアの政治と統治の文法に持ち込んだもので、1993年8月、1993年6月の総選挙を台無しにしたババンギダ将軍は「身を引く」ことを決意し (今にして思えば、それが何を意味するかは別として)、アーネスト・アデグンレ・ショネカン長官をトップとする暫定政府に政権を譲ることを選択した。)
